JMUSB at the Olympics (sort of)

One of JMU Sports Blog’s very own readers, Drew Savage, had the chance to go to London for the 2012 Olympic Games. We linked up with him before he left and were hoping he’d be able to catch one of the three JMU Olympians in action and report back to us. Unfortunately, he was unable to see any of the Dukes compete, but he did snap this cool photo of himself in front of the Olympic Rings sporting his brand new JMUSB Start Wearing Purple t-shirt (get yours here). And while I’m sure he would have loved to have seen Jacob Wukie earn a silver medal in archery, settling for seeing a couple Phelps vs Lochte races probably made up for it. Who are we kidding? We’re full on JMU dorks and short of the Duke Dog himself was competing in the 10 meter platform dive, we can’t think of too many Olympic events we’d skip for Phelps vs Lochte. And Drew wasn’t the only Duke there. He ran into another alum at the Tower of London. Small world.

Does anyone have a problem that there is NO TV coverage (other than MadiZONE) for the WVU game?? Maybe the networks have finished working out the TV schedule, but I think its ridiculous if there isn’t at least an ESPN8 or CBS14 channel that will cover this game. At FED EX. With BIG 12 and powerhouse FCS teams involved. BTW – The only info I found about TV was by ESPN Schedule and JMU Sports.com. If anyone has more updated info and there is national TV, let me know.

JMU won olympic medals in 66.6% of the events we competed in. Not bad… not bad at all….

Surprised there is no comments on the Honey Badger making the move to McNeese St… Not that we play them but he has bring some extra coverage to the AA landscape.

We’re going to the game, so I haven’t even thought about the television coverage. Maybe it’s not covered because each team plays in a conference with its own television package, so it sort of falls in a grey area.

And LD, has the Honey Badger to McNeese St thing been made official? That was the word almost immediately after his departure from LSU was announced. It’s like they released it early before every FCS fanbase in the country could start rumors about him heading to their school.

JMU #5 in the preseason poll.

Are you guys still doing the season preview where we all line up to take potshots at the other CAA teams? I love those.

And Phil Steele has them at #2 for whatever it’s worth.

We’re not doing the season previews for each CAA team this year. They took a lot of time to research and write them and the feedback we got last year was that they were a little too “inside baseball” for most folks. We’re also going to be contributing to a weekly FCS roundtable with other bloggers and writers for Saturdayblitz.com which starts this week. We will be doing our weekly game previews on Fridays though and you can count on them being filled with plenty of digs at the Dukes’ opponents. And we’re counting on each of you to help pile on and take plenty of potshots.
