JMU Apparently Has the 16th Most Hardcore Sports Fans
Keeping with our tradition of posting any random list, subjective ranking, or otherwise unsubstantiated article that casts JMU in a favorably light, we need to bring your attention to this list of the 20 Colleges With the Most Hardcore Sports Fans. Our dear old alma mater checks in at number 16. Yes, we said 16.
We understand nobody is going to print off “16th Best” t-shirts for this (or any other) honor, but it’s pretty impressive. Especially when you consider that most of the schools ranked above JMU have won multiple national championships. Of course there’s always the exception that proves the rule. It’s still a damn fine list of schools to be associated with.
If JMU does in fact have the 16th most hardcore sports fans though, it brings up two important questions. Why doesn’t this blog get more traffic? And don’t JMU fans deserve a better blog anyway?
What the article doesn’t say is that we are #16 before halftime
We have to run with this ranking like we stole it before they realize what they’ve done.
Well, JMU is OK. As a WVU game attendee for several years, there is not really a comparison. WVU fans can be a bit over the top. JMU is picking up, and we now go to these games instead of WVU games. I do like the tailgate scene at JMU-fun but not out of hand. Looking forward to football season.
I love the JMU gameday experience, I’m just not sure how an FCS school that doesn’t fill its stadium got mixed in with big-time schools. Unless it’s just because JMU’s good people and a beautiful place to see a game. That I can understand.
Every other school on the list is a big time BCS school. This is great recognition for JMU and the university and fans should milk every bit of publicity they can from making this list.
That being said, how the heck are we on the list? Have they really seen our football or basketball crowds?
