This much I know. The Jmu visitors bathrooms have got to be better than the B gate entrance bathrooms at Byrd. Literally, there was sh** on the floors.

  2. maddukes98 / Aug 30 2014

Looks like we got a little help with their #1 WR threat suspended for the season. #EveryLittleBitHelps

  3. JMU2003DUKE / Aug 30 2014

The guide for FIOS in Fairfax is showing that Big 20 Network is airing Nebraska/FAU at 3:30. Dagger!!!!

  4. JMU2003DUKE / Aug 30 2014

    Big 10

  5. Joosegaarden / Aug 30 2014

Anyone have any good suggestions for streaming the game?

  6. 2004 Duke / Aug 30 2014

    I’ve seen enough. Fire Withers.

  7. 2004 Duke / Aug 30 2014

1st pass interference of the season= Taylor Reynolds.

    Told you all.

  8. HereWeGoAgain? / Aug 30 2014

Funny…I had that same thought already. How you can run into the punt returner two times in a row? Waaaaaaayyyyyyy too many penalties so far, defense is porous, and offense anemic.

Hopefully, some of our problems are from playing an FBS school but you can’t beat yourself!

    Let’s hope this gets better.

  9. HereWeGoAgain? / Aug 30 2014

For anyone having trouble finding the game on TV, it’s on the Big Ten Network alternate feed. It’s channel DirecTV channel 610-1 for SD, not sure about HD channel #.

  10. maddukes98 / Aug 30 2014

    Channel 330 on FIOS.

  11. JMU2003DUKE / Aug 30 2014

    Awesome, thanks maddukes98!

  12. 2004 Duke / Aug 30 2014

Our front 7 is playing like a bunch of little girls. I hope all of them read this, too.

  13. 2004 Duke / Aug 30 2014

Someone needs to talk to our team about “football IQ”. It’s killing me.

  14. 2004 Duke / Aug 30 2014

Didn’t withers say the front 7 was the “strength of the team”? What team was he watching?

  15. 2004 Duke / Aug 30 2014

UMD agrees with me. Go for it on 4th and goal from the 4 with a 17 pt lead = ultimate disrespect. Oh…and score.

  16. 83 Duke / Aug 30 2014

Glad we replaced birdsong with a dual threat qb,

  17. 83 Duke / Aug 30 2014

Wow, how did this guy run an option offense. Will he ever keep the ball on a read option?

  18. 83 Duke / Aug 30 2014

And glad to see Withers installed the 2013 Ohio State defense.

  19. 2004 Duke / Aug 30 2014

JMU fans around me started heading to the parking lot with 7 mins left in the 2nd quarter. Awesome debut, Withers. Way to win them over.

  20. 2004 Duke / Aug 30 2014

UMD didn’t pay the water bill. No water at the stadium. Toilets all backed up. No soda machines working.

  21. Cory / Aug 30 2014

In the stands with Jmu fans. Still a lot here despite the score. Have heard a lot of “didnt we fire Mickey” comments about our offense

  22. JR / Aug 30 2014

Ugh. In the stands hating it. 4th and 1/2 yd, down 31, 3rd qtr, dick around indecisively, call a pathetic time out and then punt. WTF?!

Btw, did Withers hire the Skins historically bad Special Teams coordinator from last year?

  23. Farmer / Aug 30 2014

Where is the “juice”? Expected a little more fight out of our guys. UMD can’t be as good as we’re making them look…

  24. Xerk / Aug 30 2014

Funny, I recall Withers saying he’d like to play more than one FBS team a year. Bet he won’t say that after this game. I know Mickey hated playing those teams.

  25. 83 Duke / Aug 30 2014

Good to see mostly first team D still in there, they have shown so well today.

  26. Xerk / Aug 30 2014

Birdsong must be loving this QB performance. Horrid.

  27. 83 Duke / Aug 30 2014

The one blessing is that no specific weaknesses were exposed. We stunk in all aspects and all phases. Welcome in the Withers era.

  28. JMU2003DUKE / Aug 30 2014

Welcome to the Withers era? Come in off the ledge, it was one game.

  29. TSDukes09 / Aug 30 2014

EXTREMELY disappointed in this game. I had very high expectations for the team this year but after that performance they looked like they could barely beat a HS team. Granted, I wasn’t necessarily expecting them to win but I thought they’d at least play respectable. They looked worse than the MM era. For Withers to blow smoke up out butts all offseason he surely let us down big time. I was skeptical of Lee because his numbers at GT weren’t especially eye popping and he definitely proved me right today. This team will win or lose with QB play and Lee looked absolutely lost. I know it’s just one game but I’ve lost all faith in the administration, athletics department and coaching staff. We’re not moving up to FBS and we are getting left in the dust as a result, we’re not advancing athletics in any way, and we’re embarrassing the JMU name. No wonder our alumni don’t want to give back to the university. Bench Vad Lee, hire a competent offensive coordinator and shake up the rest if the coaching staff. Time to reevaluate my expectations for the year. We’ll lucky to even sniff the playoffs.

  30. M@ / Aug 30 2014

Yes I was disappointed from this game. Yes I would like to have seen more production in all phases. But I won’t jump to conclusions based on a single game against an FBS team.

  31. Aaron Glauser / Aug 30 2014

Like others here, I was not expecting us to win. I was expecting us to compete. The point of firing Mickey was that we werent’ competing, kids were getting lazy, etc. LOTS of off season hype by WIthers and I was bought in, I loved the drastic change in styles, but at the end of the day, all that matters is results and we didn’t play any better today against MD than we would have with Mickey on the sidelines and Big Red behind center. And THAT is the disappointment, we thought we were ushering in a new era and while you can say “I won’t make a judgement after one game”, I will make a judgement after an entire off season, driving off half of the former roster and hyping up the new era – results are a big fat zero. Obviously as a Dukes fan I am hopeful that this is an anomaly, and that we get better and I am sure that we will. But what was being sold by the Withers PR team was a completely different vision than what we saw today……not sure what else to say

  32. RIPAshby / Aug 31 2014

jmu can expect no dollars any time soon from this alumni. I drove 3.5 hrs and spent money on gas, tolls, parking and tickets to see the worst game I have ever seen. Yes, I was not expecting a win but as others have said for us to compete. I just am not giving any more money to JMU who cant get there act together. also of note was the barbaric maryland terrp fans who were trashy and foul mouthed. It was worse then lincoln financial field in my section. I left and went to JMU side to atleast hang out to see the band at half time which didnt even happen? Guess they would rather have high schoolers join up with their band then a visiting band.

  33. Xerk / Aug 31 2014

I’m a nonprofit fundraiser, and it’s usually some cheapass who threatens to withhold money from the organization for things not going their way. True philanthropists give because it feels good and many expect no recognition in return. People who buy season tickets, pay for gas, food, lodging, tolls, whatever are getting a good or service in return. If you can’t deduct it on your taxes, it ain’t giving.

  34. RIPAshby / Aug 31 2014

    Xerk,

Your a “non-profit fundraiser” aka your an admin for a non-profit group thats eats up administrative expensives. If your a true philanthropist why dont you quit and make a donation. I bet you dont donate any of your money you make back to your organization just act like your on a high horse because you work for a non-profit. Most non-profits suck and mismanage money anyways. Most alumni want us to move up to fbs. A JMU degree has no credibility outside the DC area. If we move up we will get more national recognition. Atleast if we stay in FCS lets not suck and yesterday we proved that we do suck. Alger is bull shitting and thinks were dumb with his run around statements. Administration sucks, football sucks. Why donate/attend games?

  35. chase / Aug 31 2014

Everyone needs to relax. Don’t give in to the knee jerk reaction. I mean really… Is Maryland a good measuring stick for the team? I think not. Give it time!

  36. Hammy / Aug 31 2014

Worst game ever and I’ve been with them since 72
Not even a field goal before the half but a Hail Mary! Really!?!?!?
    Hope things improve quickly

  37. Rob / Aug 31 2014

@RIPAshby I hate to call you out, but please calm down. Lots of us are frustrated about yesterday’s game, but there is no need to attack someone and their chosen profession, nor does it contribute anything to the conversation when you question the value of all our degrees from JMU. We appreciate you reading and hope you continue to, but let’s keep some perspective and show some respect for everyone.

    Cheers!

  38. SunChase / Sep 1 2014

Everyone needs to calm down. We got beat soundly by a big ten school. Our secondary personnel are historically not equipped to deal with elite wide receivers, which Maryland surely has. We’ve got major issues to address across the board, and I’m sure Withers is already doing just that.

Accept that JMU is statistically likely to be 1-3 after its first four games, and let’s go from there. It’s not being a bad fan to have realistic expectations. We’ve got a new coach, new offense, and mostly new offensive pieces. The whole rest of the season is in front of us. This game matters next to nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Also, for RIPAshby: learn some things about athletics. JMU has a comprehensive, holistic approach toward their athletics programs. And while I am often frustrated the University won’t put football (a potential revenue sport) first, there are other matters to look at as part of the bigger picture. The WBB team is a top 25 program, baseball just put forward two solid draft picks, field hockey is on the rise, and softball is dominant right now. We should be proud of a University that looks after the whole athletics community, instead of discarding everything for marginal prominence in football. The administration does not suck. You, and others like you, sound very naive.

  39. RIPAshby / Sep 1 2014

    Sunchase,

It appears you are drinking the kool-aid the administration wants you to believe with bs like “comprehensive holistic approach”. You say I am naive yet you say WBB is top 25? please provide that reference. I am as big a fan as any in WBB but we are hardly top 25 and in any position to seriously complete. One win in the tournmant since the 90s atleast is hardly qualifying for top 25. You are the one who is naive and dont talk shit when you dont know what the @#$% you are talking about.

    Lighten up, Francis….
