Gameday Open Thread: JMU vs. Maine

The Dukes have made the 800 mile trip up to Maine and are ready to play some football. Coming off a tough loss at UNC, JMU will attempt to get to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in CAA play. Maine on the other hand, is still looking for its first win of the season. Kickoff is at 12 noon. Consider this your official open thread for all pre-game, in-game, and post-game chatter.

Go Dukes!

Keep Rootin!

Loving this copper pan infomercial pre-game show.

Looks like that trip didn’t slow us down at all! Solid first drive

Nice first drive. Time to see if our defense can play against CAA opponents.

The announcer reminds me of the guy on CSPAN 2

This looks like last years defense. It really makes you wish we hadn’t scheduled two cupcakes to start the season.

Offense and defense both lacking today. Need a stop and a TD drive to gain momentum back before the half.

Schor is so terrible. Why not give the SEC quarterback a chance?

  8. Rob / Sep 24 2016

Offense looks lost, but Schor hasn’t played bad enough to be benched. There’s still a lot of football yet to play.

If Mitch was playing, JMU would be dominating. Shoe is holding this team back.

    Point made.

    Counterpoint made

“Dukedog” – Mitch has looked awful and I don’t think it was as close of a “QB fight” as you think it was… haha

If we had a spectacular quarterback, we would be unbeatable!
    Nice come-from-behind win … next …

@jmuparent disagree a little…I don’t think quarterback is the issue at all. Schor isn’t Vad Lee, but he’s fine. My issue with this team right now is the defense. We are just as bad defensively as we were last year, and if we want to win the CAA and make a deep run in the playoffs we need to step it up defensively.

I think the offense is top notch, but we’ll only go as far as the defense takes us. Good win though, on to the next one!

@Shrowder really the defense is as bad as last year??? JMU gave up 103 yards rushing and 238 passing (13-22-3) (341 total) —- that is pretty darn good defense. The entire team sleep-walked thru the 1st half. Adjustments were made at halftime and the intensity/pressure from the D picked up in the 2nd half. I will take any defensive performance where we hold a team to 20 points. That is the defense doing it’s job.

Can we just take a minute to appreciate that this was on TV rather than madizone?

I watched it through the UMaine website — loved the co-streaming music soundtrack, bad as the music selections were…
