Gameday Open Thread: JMU vs. Youngstown State

This is it. We’ve been waiting for JMU to play for another National Championship since 2004 and today is the day. Your JMU Dukes vs. the Youngstown State Penguins in Frisco, TX for the title. There’s nothing we can say that hasn’t been said already. We’re not one to question anyone’s fandom, but if you’re not pumped up for this one, we just don’t know. The two of us are fortunate enough to be at the game. All Dukes fans are welcome to our tailgate. We will post our final location to @JMUsportsblog on Twitter and our the JMU Sports Blog Facebook page. If you’re in Texas, we hope you swing by to say hello. For everyone else. We hope you’re all settled in and ready to root wherever you are. Whether you’re by yourself on the couch, with friends at a watch party, or in Frisco, this is a wonderful day to be a Dukes fan. Consider this your official open thread for all pre-game, in-game, and post-game chatter. It’s time to Lock the Damn Gates!

Go Dukes!

Beat YSU!

Keep Rootin!

    Go Dukes!

Proud Duke checking in from Amman, Jordan.

    GO DUKES

    Halftime adjustment:

Right now the playcalling is about 2/3 run. We have got to make that 50/50 or even more Pass to open up the box so The Butcher can get rolling. Schor can make it rain, so put the ball in his hands more.

Good game so far. The field is obviously a factor on both sides. Other than Abdullah, no one can plant. Other than the 2 down the field completions, a pretty conservative approach so far, but it’s done the job. Love the crowd shots!

    GAGE STEELE!!!

Before shit gets crazy, 2 points. 1. JMU has 2 flags on them so far. 2. They’ve played safe and it paid off.

2nd half playcalling has been awful. Glad YSU is so overmatched it doesn’t matter.

I finally feel safe to say, I have been watching JMU football since 1979, and this is definitely the best, most talented JMU team.
    National Champions!
    Go Dukes!!!

    Congratulation to the 2016 Dukes!

Agree with @OBXDuke1983- Definitely the best JMU team of all time. Probably should have won this game about 42-7.

Let’s hope this is the start of a dynasty.

Yea the second half was clearly meant to play it safe. We were clearly the better team and could have won by more, but didn’t need to. Great game, great season JMU! 2016 National Champs! And well deserved!

OMG! National Champions in Coach Houston’s first year …

… and my Daughter’s last year. It doesn’t get any better than this!

Congrats to all the players & coaches … 🙂

A lack a comments on this glorious day leads me to believe everyone is wasted.

What a season! Congrats to the Dukes. Take 1… maybe 2 days to rest up and celebrate, then back to work. January 2018: Repeat.

Shout out to the defense. Their improvement ,along
with the special teams play , made this glorious day
    possible.
On a separate note, I am curious how populated
other watch parties were. With 7″ of snow I am happy
to report that Gus’ in RVA was still packed with fine young
JMU supporters. There was one lone YSU guy sitting at
    the bar , forlorn.

Before our guys headed home , I wish they would’ve swung by San Marcos, TX and shown Coach Dithers what a coach can win when they build a REAL team and not just a resume. #PartyInTheEndZoneForREAL

What an AWESOME experience and great game Dukes! So proud of the entire team!

I am a little sad now because it is 8 months until the start of next season.
