Mary 20-14 last night.\u00a0 And even crazier, there are signs the\u00a0old Dukes swagger the\u00a0program\u00a0seemed to have\u00a0misplaced the last\u00a0two years\u00a0is coming\u00a0back!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3020\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/jmusportsblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Griffin1-300x167.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3020\" data-attachment-id=\"3020\" data-permalink=\"http:\/\/jmusportsblog.com\/?attachment_id=3020\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/jmusportsblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Griffin1-300x167.jpg?fit=300%2C167\" data-orig-size=\"300,167\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;}\" data-image-title=\"Griffin1-300&#215;167\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"&lt;p&gt;One more laugh at the Griffin everyone.&lt;\/p&gt;\n\" data-medium-file=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/jmusportsblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Griffin1-300x167.jpg?fit=300%2C167\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/jmusportsblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Griffin1-300x167.jpg?fit=300%2C167\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3020\" title=\"Griffin1-300x167\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/jmusportsblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Griffin1-300x167.jpg?resize=300%2C167\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"167\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3020\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One more laugh at the Griffin everyone.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>But before we get carried away getting excited for this coming weekend, a little wrapup from last night&#8217;s game.\u00a0 Solid straight game story can be <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.timesdispatch.com\/sports\/college-sports\/2011\/sep\/25\/tdsport01-jmu-gets-valuable-win-over-william-and-m-ar-1334997\/\">found here<\/a>.\u00a0 Yes, the Dukes caught a few breaks last night (dropped TD catch, botched FG, and catching WM in the middle of a four-alarm\u00a0QB crisis), but after the Tribe&#8217;s strong opening drive, the D stepped up big time to clamp down on the CAA&#8217;s best player in RB Jonathan Grimes.\u00a0 In typical Dukes fashion, they made us all sweat the whole way through a late Tribe comeback attempt, but don&#8217;t let the score or the naysayers fool you on this one.\u00a0 JMU\u00a0was dominant\u00a0last night on both sides of the ball in a way we haven&#8217;t seen in way too long.\u00a0 Deeper, more physical, and more athletic all over the field.\u00a0 Getting Latney in the mix at RB added a new dimension to the running game and they found ways to get Kerby Long the ball in space.\u00a0 JT seems to be getting his legs back under him as well and was\u00a0 a threat to run all night.<\/p>\n<p>But it was the old JMU attitude that came right through the non-HD screen (complete with the un-PC Tribe\u00a0logo WITH feathers on Comcast)\u00a0and emboldened hopes that this season may be starting to get on track!\u00a0 The D, led by Robertson and Middleton, was just stifling and came to hit.\u00a0\u00a0And I have to grudgingly admit I loved the stubborn old MM playcalling for numerous reasons for once!\u00a0 The Dukes had a two-score lead for huge stretches of this game, the rain was torrential for most of the third quarter, and they seemed to be able to knock the Tribe off the line and pick up four or five yards at will.\u00a0 Oh yeah, and they also beat W&amp;M last year attempting one lonely pass.\u00a0 If ain&#8217;t broke, don&#8217;t fix it.\u00a0 You just know Mickey loved a gameplan where JMU only attempted four passes!<\/p>\n<p>Ok, now we can move on to freaking out about how the hell JMU&#8221;s going to stop UR wideout Tre Gray next week and planning for some serious cooler rustlin&#8217;
