{"id":5109,"date":"2013-04-08T07:29:34","date_gmt":"2013-04-08T11:29:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jmusportsblog.com\/?p=5109"},"modified":"2013-04-08T07:29:34","modified_gmt":"2013-04-08T11:29:34","slug":"news-and-notes-on-former-dukes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jmusportsblog.com\/?p=5109","title":{"rendered":"News and Notes on Former Dukes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re a bit worn out of discussing conference realignment at the moment, at least until there&#8217;s new news of some sort. \u00a0That could come tomorrow or August or December or next year for all we know so at least for today we&#8217;re moving on.<\/p>\n<p>Wish we had something more to discuss regarding a new contract for Matt Brady. \u00a0All there is to say. Pay the man. Please.<\/p>\n<p>But we do have a few cool notes on former Dukes athletes who have continued there athletic careers. \u00a0Please add to these in the comments if you know of others.<\/p>\n<p>First, football alum Scott Noble has gone onto to what appears to be a rather promising MMA career. \u00a0Enjoy:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kNwesBrd9aE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>WBB&#8217;s Tamera Young recently<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hoopfeed.com\/content\/2013\/03\/18\/the-chicago-sky-re-signs-forward-tamera-young\/\"> re-upped her deal<\/a> with the WNBA&#8217;s Chicago Sky and will look to build on last season&#8217;s milestone of becoming only the sixth Sky player to hit the 1000 point mark for her career.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Caussin was re-signed by the Buffalo Bills this summer where he&#8217;ll join Arthur Moats again this year. \u00a0#dontcrosstheMoats Let&#8217;s Go Buf-fa-lo! \u00a0Caussin has been troubled by injuries, but it would be damn cool to see two Dukes contributing on the same roster and hopefully things will finally take off for him.<\/p>\n<p>As you probably know, with the NFL draft rapidly approaching, we&#8217;re likely to be back with full Earl Watford coverage soon, but he&#8217;s been one of the real &#8220;climbers&#8221; on draft boards. \u00a0We&#8217;ve seen projections as high as 2nd round and \u00a0as low as Undrafted Free Agent, but somewhere near the 4th round seems safe to bet for FCS&#8217;s finest Guard prospect.<\/p>\n<p>Lots of Diamond Dukes scattered around the minors this spring so keep your eyes peeled if you&#8217;re in one of these outposts or they come to town. \u00a0(this list is certainly not complete)\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">OF Rich Thompson is with the Durham Bulls. \u00a0Manager Lorenzo Bundy is managing the amazing\u00a0Albuquerque Isotopes, a personal favorite of JMUSB and the Dodgers AAA team that includes<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">\u00a0Dee Gordon, Scott Van Slyke, Jesus Flores, and Tony Gwynn Jr. for the time being. \u00a0C Jake Lowery is plying his trade with the Carolina Mudcats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Finally, always fun to keep an eye on former soccer stars CJ Sapong (MLS Sporting Kansas City) and Christina Julien, who is currently playing in Europe and is frequently in Canada&#8217;s national side (becoming a legit and hated USWNT rival by the way). \u00a0She&#8217;s also a pretty funny follow @juliencm21 if you like your sports with a huge Canadian slant, eh.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<iframe src=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fjmusportsblog.com%2F%3Fp%3D5109&amp;layout=standard&amp;show_faces=true&amp;width=450&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;height=80\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden; width:450px; height:80px;\" allowTransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re a bit worn out of discussing conference realignment at the moment, at least until there&#8217;s new news of some sort. \u00a0That could come tomorrow or August or December or next year for all we know so at least for today we&#8217;re moving on.
