JMUSB Podcast: Playoff Win Over Stony Brook, Weber State, & Live Music Venues

The latest episode of the JMUSB Podcast is up and available for your listening pleasure. We had some technical difficulties that prevented us from having our scheduled guest, radio voice of the Dukes Dave Thomas, on the show. As a result, you’re stuck with the two of us rambling on about JMU’s big playoff victory over Stony Brook. We also discuss a few concerns heading into the Weber State game and end it by chatting about a few of our favorite live music venues.

Thanks again to our podcast sponsor Pale Fire Brewing. Drop in for a beer next time you’re in the ‘burg.

In 1993 I went to see a concert by Three Dog Night on Godwin Field. That was awesome.

And it was before I went to JMU; first time I was on campus.

Good job guys. Love the music venue discussion. My personal favorites…
It is hard to separate the physical venue from your experiences in the venue.

My number one, The Mosque in Richmond (aka the Landmark, now the Altria I think). Beautiful historic theater with good sound. Was able to see so many incredible shows there over the years when I lived in Richmond. Some standouts were the Grateful Dead (’77), Clapton, Muddy Waters, Dylan, Petty (Early), BB King, John Prince, Warren Zevon, to name a few.

Favorite larger venue would be the Hampton Coliseum for sound quality and quality of shows over the years (Stones, Springsteen, Phish, and the Grateful Dead too many times to count).

Absolute worst venue with an incredible show would be Bob Marley at the old Capital Centre in Landover.

Sorry…just going down memory lane which is WAY more interesting to me than anyone else.

Can’t wait until Friday night. Still trying to figure out how to change my schedule to freeze in the stands.

    Go Dukes

Tough loss for the bball Dukes at The Citadel. I am excited to see how this team progresses over the year.

I love Hampton Coliseum. Great place to see a show.

Fun off-topic topic! For folks unaware of the venue, check out the Lime Kiln outdoor amphitheater in Lexington. Caught The Wood Brothers and The Turnpike Troubadours there over the summer – venue size feels like a backyard concert, only holds ~500 people.
