Fan Confidence Poll: Regular Season Finale

[polldaddy poll=8459001]Things are certainly different than they were a few weeks ago. After plummeting to a low of 19% after JMU lost to Delaware, last week a full 71% of poll respondents thought JMU was headed to the playoffs. After the 35 point win over Richmond in Bridgeforth East, we’re assuming that number should go up again this week. Only CAA newcomer Elon stands between the Dukes and a 9-3 regular season record. Elon has struggled in its first CAA season. Mightily struggled. But the Pheonix shouldn’t be taken lightly. I’m sure there’s nothing they’d rather do than close the season by defeating one of the hottest teams in the country.

Let’s hope they don’t Steeler the game vs Elon

  2. White Hall / Nov 18 2014

Ok, seriously, who voted no? Does someone really expect us to lose to Elon?

  3. Cory / Nov 19 2014

The only people that vote no….

    1. Don’t know jack about football

    2. Like to troll JMU fans

    3. Go to UR

    4. All of the above.

  4. 07Duke / Nov 19 2014

Let’s Go Dukes!!! I’ve voted yes all season.

  5. 2004 Duke / Nov 19 2014

With an expanded playoff field and a top-3 CAA finish, anyone who voted “no” at this point is just trolling.

  6. 2004 Duke / Nov 19 2014

….but if not, I would be very interested to hear their argument.

Proud to say I voted yes all season. A little iffy at times, but I kept the faith! Lee now named to the Payton Award watch list!

  8. zac / Nov 19 2014

Maybe they thought they meant Duquesne?

  9. Saundra / Nov 19 2014

As a Duke mom…I am proud to vote YES!

  10. Ken / Nov 19 2014

I voted a definitive positive ‘yes’ this week, but…

I stayed on the ‘no’ side until the Richmond game based on the lack of consistent play from week to week and half to half and what other teams on the schedule were doing — every time UD lost, that hurt JMU’s chances as long as we stayed even or behind them in the conference standings. W&M had only lost to VT, Nova and UNH before we played them and UR was cruising right along before the Maine crash/burn.

You can’t routinely let yourself fall 2 or more scores behind and expect to always come back and win (W&M, Stony Brook) or sprint out to a 2-score+ lead and let the other team back in it (Charlotte, Albany).

Richmond was whistle-to-whistle effort on both sides of the ball against a top 15 opponent. Not perfect, but the best of the year; the team has improved continually through the season, but can ill afford a market correction on Saturday vs. Elon.

If the AD can’t get a home game, hope we come back to EKU 🙂 (just kidding @2004 Duke)

I have to be honest saying I didn’t vote yes until recent weeks, but now I’m all in.

Think the locker room needs to continue to leverage the “us against the world” mentality in regards to anything from current rankings, to various POW snubs, or the preseason pick to finish 8th in the CAA.

Bottom line – Let’s keep this thing rolling!

    Go Dukes!

  12. cbjmuinatl / Nov 19 2014

Voted yes all season and also picked the Dukes to finish 9-3 (on the CSNbbs) message board on 8/20/14. (formerjmusprinter84)

    “10 – 4, 9 – 3 regular season, 1-1 in playoffs”

They are going to put a beatdown on Elon who is averaging 13 points a game this season.

  13. Peter / Nov 19 2014

There’s no way that you could vote no. We will not lose to elon and 9-3 and 3rd place in the CAA is always good enough to get into the playoffs.
We all but clinched a playoff spot last week by beating Richmond.

  14. Xerk / Nov 19 2014

Does MadiZone totally suck for anyone else? Seems like all it does is skip when I try to watch.

  15. 2004 Duke / Nov 20 2014

@Ken- I see what you did there. lol

@Xerk- Show up at the Purple Palace and you don’t have to worry about Madizone.

  16. maddukes98 / Nov 20 2014

2004Duke – I like the term Purple Palace! We have to spread the word and have that catch on.
