Gameday Open Thread: JMU Dukes vs. W&M Tribe
Hope you all are safe and sound wherever you are today. Plenty of folks are already back in the ‘burg tailgating and getting ready for the Dukes big game against the Tribe. JMU hasn’t lost to the W&M since 2004 and will attempt to keep that streak going today. W&M is looking to right the ship and salvage its season before it gets too late. But we don’t want that to happen.

HOLY CRAP MADIZONE IS WORKING
I really, really hate the white helmets with the “M”. It reminds me of the Withers era and the Bend-and-then-break defense that I don’t want to remember.

Not sure why every team in America quit running the speed option. It would have been an easy TD @ 10:47 in Q2 instead of a missed FG.
the curse of the ugly white helmets is in effect. worst helmets in college football and dukes are playing ugly just like their horrible headgear. should be up 17 over these scrubs.
We should start a gofundme page to buy all the white helmets and drive them down to the Rocktown landfill.
I’ll never understand holding penalties. They call them when I don’t see anything, and they never call it when someone is getting their shirt torn off.

Great pick by TR….. always nice when the QB throws it 5 yards behind the WR and it lands in your hands.
Good effort by both teams today. I give both teams a solid B. We played like a one-playoff win team. It’s kind of weird because it felt like we were winning by 20…but we were only up by 7.

I don’t understand the hate for the white helmets. They look slick and uniform color has zero correlation to player performance.

Interesting game … but somehow not terribly satisfying. The defensive side of the ball is clearly still is a “work in progress”.
Here’s to the 2nd half of the season being as successful as the first half has been …

dl, those helmets have a definite correlation to performance — withers unveiled them the week he spent more time designing uniforms than defensive schemes — his players weren’t prepared but he didn’t care, the bling was good for recruits.
More importantly, those helmets look foolish, put the gold (or the purple) helmets back on and focus on tackling and pass defense. If they don’t improve their play they will lose at least two this season (probably NH and Richmond). Then they’ll have all offseason to dream up new uniform combos.
