Predict the Winner of JMU vs. St. Francis
We had so much fun with our weekly JMU football prediction contest last season that we’re running it back this year. Here’s how it’s going to work. A few days before each JMU game, we’ll publish a predictions contest post asking readers to pick the winner using the comments. If there is a tie, the person who comments first wins and we’ll take predictions right up until kick-off. The reader who comes closest to nailing it (winner and score) will get to write a guest post on anything his or heart desires the following week. And we really will let you write about anything…provided whatever you write doesn’t make you (or more importantly either of us) look like an asshole. The bar was set pretty high last year with some terrific guest posts. We’re expecting more great things this year. Maybe we’ll even discover the next member of the JMUSB blogging team.
And in case you were wondering, this does not in any way take the place of our game previews. We’ll continue to post those on Friday of every game week. Expect a blend of somewhat serious analysis with plenty of snark thrown in to rile up the opposing team’s fanbase. This week’s post might be a little more on the serious side on account of the fact that St. Francis doesn’t appear to have any fans to rile up however.
Which brings us to this. The JMU Dukes open the 2012 football season with plenty of high expectations. Lots of fans are thinking this team has what it takes to win the CAA Championship and make a deep run in the playoffs. But before they can begin the CAA campaign, they’ll need to work some things out in 3 out of conference games. The first of which is this Saturday against the St. Francis University Red Flash (love that name btw). JMU is picked to contend in the always tough CAA. St. Francis is looking to improve upon last year’s 2-9 record and last place finish in the NEC. Who wins and by what score?
JMU Duuuukes, 34-0.
JMU 62, Saint Francis 7
JMU 45, Saint Francis 7

JMU 42 – St. Francis 7
JMU wins 45-6
JMU 24-7, only cause everyone else’s is expecting way more offense
JMU 33 St Francis 9
Dukes have more sacks than offensive passing attempts.
49-3 St. Francis only gets past the 50 twice all game.
JMU 31-7
JMU 48, St Francis 10.
Dukes give up a late touchdown to make it seem closer than it was… and it wasn’t that close.
56-10 Dukes take home opener with ease

St. Francis 3
JMU 34 St Francis 10
JMU 27 – St. Frank 13

St. Francis 10
JMU 31 – St. Francis 10
JMU – 38
St. Francis – 17
41-10 JMU.
JMU up 31-0 at the half. Mickey sits Thorpe, DQ an several starters at the half to give Birdsong and the backups some in-game experience and Anderson/Latney some carries. JMU forces two defensive turnovers and St. Francis gets past the 50 yard line 3 times (provided Mickey stops the pop-up kick nonsense). St. Francis scores a garbage time TD in the 4th quarter against our 3rd team defense. Do I get two blog posts if this all comes true?
Blake – Maybe.
Wish I woulda read that SFU was 3rd worst defense last year. Oh well, if it is low scoring, I get it haha
JMU – 55
StF – 7
Dukes: 38, Red Flash in the pan: 9, lower crowd noise will limit Dukes to higher score. (son-1 of 4 Dukes here- notes students will be too partied out by 6 pm start)
48-14
JMU DUUUKES
JMU 21 – 16 St Francis
I still have the CCSU crapfest opener in my head from last year. If the Dukes come out with their hair on fire, this will be over early. After last year’s opener, I’ll have to see it first.
Score: JMU- One Miiiiiillllion
ST. Fran- Number 2
Or JMU- 27 Little Sisters of the Poor- 9
*dont want to write column. Yall do great job!
48-0 JMU
JMU 35
Francis 13
Dukes roll 39-3. I don’t know how a team gets 39 points but I expect some unusual scoring plays.
Dukes 37-10….had to find a unique combination. As long as we win as easily as everyone thinks, I’ll be happy.
JMU 34
St. Francis 10
I’m an idiot (and maybe a wee bit drunk)
JMU 37
St Francis 13
31-10 JMU
Dukes 45 – St Francis 14
35-3
24-13 Dukes
