Prediction Contest: JMU vs. Rhode Island

We got sort of caught up in the excitement of planning our first JMUSB bus trip and tailgate party last week and forgot to run the prediction contest. We’re back with a vengeance this week though. On Saturday the Dukes will face the Rhode Island Rams on the road in Kingston, RI. The Dukes are looking to bounce back from a tough defeat at the hands of West Virginia. Rhode Island is simply hoping to stop the bleeding after two blowout losses to open the season.

If you need a refresher, here’s how the contest works. Everyone leaves comments with their prediction of who will win and what the final score will be. The person who comes closest to accurately predicting the outcome (winner & score) will get to write a guest post next week. And it’s worth noting that of all the people who were kind enough to introduce themselves to us last Saturday at FedEx, the second most popular thing they wanted to talk about was how great this year’s guest posts have been. The first thing everyone want to talk about was whether or not any WVU fans were going to try to kick my ass because of the preview. So hat’s off to Tedward and Stu for getting the ball rolling with some outstanding guest posts. We’re looking forward to reading some more good ones throughout the season.

42-7 We don’t play well up north normally, but URI has been eating it bigtime with losses to Villanova, which seems somewhat improved from last year, and a HUGE loss to Monmouth….Monmouth!

I meant to say that JMU would be the victor, I just assumed that was a given! πŸ™‚

You guys didn’t remember to announce that you were going to do predictions but you still had plenty of them. As well as your first female winner?!? Are you just going to overlook that fact and ignore her win? Not sure I can continue to read a blog and visit a site that does that. I’d suggest giving the guest blog spot to her since she clearly won and the error was on your end rather than the reader.

Cory are trying to tell us that you predicted the game correctly last week? If you did and you want to guest post, just say so. We can work something out I’m sure. We seriously just forgot to run the contest last week.

Rob if you look back at your own post:

    http://jmusportsblog.com/?p=4348

you’ll notice that there are four posts near the beginning of the game. One from my username:

    cory79 and I predicted
    Wvu 62
    Jmu 7

    then there was:

    amy
    Wvu – 45
    Jmu – 14

    then there was:

    DaddyMatt

    WVU 45
    JMU 17

    and finally:

    Tedward

    JMU – 29
    wvu – 27

It took me about 5 minutes to determine the winner last week after the game and another 5 minutes tonight to show your the results after amy’s last best. I didn’t win, she did. I just think if you are going to make a point about how you are waiting for a woman to win it, then she does you should respect that win per your previous posts.

Cory I appreciate you reading, and I’m trying to be nice here, but let it go. There was no contest to win last week so we’re not awarding anyone anything. It’s great that you were able to determine the “winner”, but the fact is there was no winner, because again, there was no contest for anyone to win.

We tweeted last week that we were busy and weren’t doing the prediction contest. We had time this week, so we’re doing it now. Life moves on. If you think that us not having a contest (on our free blog that we do for fun) because we were busy with work, family, etc makes it impossible for you to continue reading that’s unfortunate.

Rob I think someone forgot to tell you that when you’re trying to be nice you don’t tell someone to just let something go. Oh and thanks for tweeting that you were too busy..I only have this page bookmarked as well as your FB page so I’ll go sign up for tweets so I don’t miss any “breaking news” that appears here.

    JMU – 1
    RI – 0

    Rhode Island should forfeit now.
