negative yards on a punt that’s not a bad snap or a block? wow……

  5. M@ / Sep 27 2014

Technically I the the punt ended up exactly sideways since the punter is usually about 13 yards back… :/

  6. Ken / Sep 27 2014

    Yechhhh. Going to dinner now.

  7. maddukes98 / Sep 27 2014

    Need some more athletes.

  8. Cory / Sep 27 2014

Could the Dukes be anymore schizophrenic from one week to the next?

  9. Xerk / Sep 27 2014

That decision to punt at end of half showed absolutely no balls.

  10. Who? / Sep 27 2014

What happened to balance at running back? Abdullah looks slow and rusty.

How does Brown miss that catch???

  12. Bhagavan / Sep 27 2014

I can only thank the gods I didn’t waste my afternoon sitting in front of the tv watching this nut kicker of a game.

  13. 2004 Duke / Sep 27 2014

Why is nobody at the game?

  14. 2004 Duke / Sep 27 2014

I can’t believe all the negativity here. Do you guys even like jmu?

  15. Bhagavan / Sep 27 2014

Who is that offsides dipshit twice in a row?

  16. Just Sayin' / Sep 27 2014

We are making mistakes that Pee Wee players don’t make. C’mon!

  17. Drake / Sep 27 2014

Did that crazy enthusiastic first down call by the ref earlier piss anyone else off? Sounded like he was an announcer.

  18. Rob / Sep 27 2014

That 86 yard TD was a punch in the gut. Let’s pull off a miracle Dukes.

  19. 2004 Duke / Sep 27 2014

Who gave up the 85 yd near game winning TD ? TAYLOR REYNOLDS. Yall can call me a hater all you want but the tape don’t lie.

  20. Rob / Sep 27 2014

He definitely got beat on that one. No hiding it. Marlowe & Moreland got all mixed up on the overtime TD too.

And there’s no point to even having a replay if you can’t get a goal line view. I’m not saying the ball broke the plane, but it would be nice to have something other than a shot from 10 yards behind the ball carrier to verify things.

Uninspired play by the JMU defense in that overtime. Like they figured the offense would just continue to bail them out. Poor play calls on offense relying to heavy on pass at first and run at the end. Try mixing it up for gods sake.

Went to the game today. First look at this year’s team. Think we are on for a losing record this year but was surprised by Lee’s passing. Somehow thought he could not throw at all. One thing I don’t understand is why on short yardage situations-say when we have a yard or two to go to get the first down, why is Lee ALLWAYS lined up in the shotgun? By the time he gets the ball either he or the ball carrier has to run almost 5 yards just to get to the line of scrimmage. Why not just line up under center and try to pick up the yardage that way? Other than that, defense looked awful on 3rd down situations and there is nothing to describe how bad those touchdowns for Delaware were on the first play and after we had tied the game at 16-16. Hard to watch that kind of defense. But at other times they looked ok. Odd kind of crowd too. No one there at the beginning, then it filled in and then right before the half it emptied out. Ok put this one behind and on to the next game.

I was there, too. Great to see the defense urging the crowd to get into it … and then blow the next play.

Can anyone tell us where all our RB’s are ??

And, about the shotgun on 4th and inches … WTF!

  24. SunChase / Sep 28 2014

Weird crowd indeed. Watched my first game from the upper decks, and got a nice look at the rest of the crowd — student section was 1/3 empty, then 90% full after the first quarter, then 60% empty for the fourth quarter.

Aside from a few bad plays (which were REALLY bad), I actually didn’t think the defense looked terrible. It’s the offense that looked off. Shades of Mickey ball — lining up in the shotgun on short yardage situations, no clear offensive identity, and key drops hurting us.

Most importantly, though, EW has got to learn when to go for it and when to take the freaking points. If it’s 4th and short on the 35, sure, go for it. If it’s 4th and 4 in the red zone, take the points! Even civilians understand that stuff. You can never truly oversimplify by saying “if you had kicked the field goal, then you would have won the game,” because the score affects so many decisions through the remainder of the afternoon.

But… it’s hard not to think that the final score should have been 26-23, JMU. Gotta get more consistent.

  25. BR / Sep 28 2014

An incredibly boring game with a dull-*** crowd turned into an exciting game and atmosphere about the mid-way point of the 4th quarter. Would have been much better with a JMU win, but it was a fun game to be at in the end.

This team doesn’t look like a playoff team right now, but they showed fight through to the end. For those who are butt-hurt by the loss; I suggest you chill, reset expectations for this year and try to have some fun.
