Prediction Contest: Dukes vs. Ticks
It’s Richmond Week. Now any game against the Ticks is one JMU fans want to win. This Saturday’s contest might mean even a little more than usual though, with JMU still fighting for a playoff bid. Richmond is a solid team that should not be taken lightly. And despite the fact that as JMU fans we’re practically obligated to poke fun at the Ticks’ high school-esque stadium, JMU has yet to win there. (ed. note: I just Googled “high school stadium” to see if Robins came back in the result. Sadly, it does not. However, there are some very impressive high school stadiums out there. We might need to come up with a new insult, because Richmond’s facility doesn’t really hold a candle to those of say, Stadium High School in Tacoma, WA or Allen High School in Allen, Texas to name a few. But I digress.) Will this be the year the Dukes get it done in Robins Stadium? And for any of you who’d like to test your sports betting acumen, Richmond opened as a 7 point favorite. Let us know who you think will win and what the final score will be in the comments. The person who comes closest to nailing it (winner & score) will get to write a guest post next week. Pretty simple, right? Now get to it.

My prediction (based on past experience attending UR game)….
Several spoiled, chunky, white girls (wearing clothes too tight) making “witty” comments like, “look at those idiots whose daddy’s made them go to a STATE school” AND boyfriends in khakis and sweater vests with Justin Beiber hair cuts tailgating behind a new Mercedes SUV (given by parents for no good reason).
Oh wait, this supposed to be a score prediction….
JMU 24
Ticks 20
***I will never forget sitting in UR section when Scotty returned punt in final minute for winning TD to silence crowd taunting me for cheering for Dukes all day! Perfect Day!

Richmond will play tough and the Dukes can’t afford a slow start. It would be good to establish a ground game and loosen up the passing defense. The D has to play honest and maintain discipline. Richmond knocked off Villanova and is coming off a tough loss with five turnovers.
35-21 JMU
21-17 Dukes
Dukes 34-31
Strauss playing for UR is a wildcard on Saturday; with Marlowe banged up a bit I believe our secondary will struggle. We still haven’t put a complete game together and they are likely pretty peeved over the Maine meltdown. I haven’t been right or close all year, so I guess I’ll have to rely on that time-tested strategy of ‘reverse psychology.’

Unrelated, but notable — JMU women #11 in the world-wide leaders preseason mid-major poll (some california transplant troll who probably roots for george mason — they could fold their women’s team and nobody would notice/care — called out our fans and band for class issues). I’ll be in Nashville for the Vandy game 12/29. Let’s show the purple for New Year’s!
JMU 38 Ticks 31
I waited to post because I didn’t want to be the only “Debbie Downer”. Coming off an embarrassing loss last week, Richmond will be looking for a big comeback.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking for a JMU blowout …. but, unless we can put together a solid 4 quarters, we may well leave Richmond with sad kids. 🙁
The D will fold the Strauss pocket like the old days against pocket passer Flacco.
It will include a safety to make it Dukes 19, UR 17 in a close game on a cold day. D needs to limit the first downs so we dont have to listen to that obnoxious announcer calling first downs.

Ticks – 20
