The Dukes will attempt to move to 5-0 for the first time in program history this Saturday. JMU will play Stony Brook in the friendly (yet flooded) confines of Bridgeforth Stadium. Leave a comment below letting us know who you think will win and what the final score will be. The person who comes closes to nailing it (winner & score) will win the chance to guest post. That’s all. Keep rootin’!

Can’t take SB lightly, they did knock off UNH a few weeks ago.
Dukes 42

A top defense, I believe, statistically will hold them to a lower score. But I don’t think they can keep up the whole game. JMU 42 SB 20.

Playing in a pond will slow us down…a little.

48-21 good guys. I think this game marks us as THE team.
I assume that JMU will have every pump in Harrisonburg rented to keep the stadium flood free and good to go for the weekend.
JMU – 41
SB – 17
Dukes win 38-28
rain will slow down Vad and co, but we get some turnovers.
49-13 Dukes!
Weather will definitely be a factor and may slow up the offense a little.
Dukes – 35
SB – 14

@Chris I laughed out loud at you saying the rain will slow us down and put 49 points! That just goes to show how ridiculous this offense is when we think 49 is slowing down! Although you may not have intended it, great post my friend. No sarcasm here!

The wolffish, also known as sea wolves, are a family, Anarhichadidae, of perciform fish. They are native to cold waters of the northern Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, where they live on the continental shelf and slope, to depths of about 600 m (2,000 ft). They are bottom-feeders, eating hard-shelled invertebrates such as clams, echinoderms, and crustaceans, which they crush with their strong canine and molar teeth. The longest species, Anarrhichthys ocellatus, grows to more than 2 m (6.6 ft) in length.
Therefore… Dukes: 45 Bottom-Feeding Fish with strong Teeth: 20
JMU 42
Stony Brook 20
42-32 JMU
@ Drake; really didn’t mean to be comical, but I totally see the humor. I know we left points off the board in every game. I guess I was trying to say, is that we’re due for some turnovers to go our way. With that and some decent field position as a result… that’s how I got to 49. Now that I think about it, might be low balling a little. – no sarcasm here either. Go Dukes!
JMU – 31
Stony Brook – 6
The rain slows things down, but the fact that we can be just as dangerous running the ball as throwing it gives us the edge.
This is definitely a trap game. We are all excited as we should be. But this will be the truest test of our coach and his ability to keep the team focused in the midst of all the love and attention we are getting (deservedly). If we don’t come out on fire, we could get beat. I know it doesn’t seem likely, but as was already said, we could come out of this as THE team, or victims of a killing upset.
All that said, I will stick with my previous pick:
JMU 35 – 17
JMU 27
Stony Brook 3
Dukes 47 -27
JMU 35 Stony Brook 24
Our history with them isn’t so easily overcome! Both games have been decided by one possession – I think it will be closer than we would like.
Dukes 37-16
weather slows everybody down.
24-10 Dukes
2nd prediction:
Officiating crew will have two Three Stooges sequences.
JMU – 41
Chickens of the Sea – 10
Duuuukes – 63
faceless opponent – 24
Not to dwell on the past, but has the CAA said anything about that RIDICULOUS sequence in the Albany game where the refs were reviewing the call from two plays ago? I’m trying to move on with my life but I can’t… I need closure!!!!!
@jmu2003duke: complete and utter silence from the CAA official I emailed…which should surprise NO ONE. I didn’t even get a form email thanking me for my comments and interest in the CAA.
The only comment from the home office in Richmond regarding the officiating in the Albany game was the reprimand for Coach Withers…careful telling the emperor he has no clothes.
@KW, Thanks for the update. The level of assbaggery in the CAA is astounding!
Side note…. I became friends with a guy that I was overseas with in 2005-2006, who won a couple of 1-AA National Titles playing for Georgia Southern. Seeing how happy this guy is on Facebook every week since they made the move up is killing me. We deserve that kind of happiness, don’t we??? My wife tells me that I don’t, but I know she’s been wrong at least once.
Dukes over Seawolves 40-20
Dukes 38- SB 14
I’m not going to predict the score but I hope word gets out to the team. I hate when a team gets so much acclaim so early in a season. They start believing they can just walk out on the field and win. I was on the last team that started out like this in 1978 and we went up to play Salisbury Steak University who was 1-5 and we were undefeated and lost 16-6 played a horrible game against a nobody team embarrassing loss…stop reading your press and play like Champions…Coach Bowers was our QB so hope he can relate this story. Don’t believe the hype just prove your the best team in D1AA…
JMU 42 – Stony Brook 24
