Guest Post: Some JMU Gameday Sign Ideas
Last week the Dukes destroyed Elon and 06 grad youtastelikeaburger came closest to predicting the final score. As a result, he’s gets to guest post. Here’s his take on things JMU and some sign ideas for Saturday.
I picked the DUUUUUKES to win 42-0, mostly as a joke and yet it somehow ended up being fairly accurate. Admittedly I didn’t watch any of the game so I won’t even attempt to break down the win but I will say the Dukes “looked” impressive from my smartphone scoreboard watching.
It was ironic on a day we were rooting for big programs to lose to give JMU a chance to host College GameDay (built by Home Depot, Harrisonburg’s biggest supplier of beer pong tables) that the Dukes were playing Elon, a school most people outside of NC didn’t even know existed. While they have developed into a rather good school over the past decade, it’s still difficult for me to imagine JMU and Elon being in the same conference but alas that is todays CAA. Thankfully the Dukes took care of business and all the other stars aligned putting JMU in the national spotlight.
My DVR is set and I’m giddy with anticipation about checking out the ESPN shots of campus. While many people often get frustrated with the student turnout at games I have no doubt that our current student body will do us proud during all of the ESPN segments over the next couple of days. With that said here are some signs I’d love to see:

- JMU 21 VT 16 (cause of course we have to)

Nonsense category:
- Louisville Recruit

- FCS did playoffs…before it was cool
- You taste like a burger, I don’t like you anymore
Lastly while everyone is pretty sick of the conference realignment talk I couldn’t really help but mention it with all the news this week. Personal feelings aside I wonder what the impact of ESPN coming to JMU means. When combined with the expanded stadium, Withers hiring, and success on the field does JMU take the additional national coverage and decide it is time to move up (if given the chance)? On the contrary, does the administration argue that had JMU already moved up to FBS there is likely no chance that ESPN comes to the Burg? Would GameDay want to feature the 4-3 Dukes vs 3-4 Central Michigan? Probably not. I am not trying to spark any crazy debates just some food for thought.
I took a puck to the neck during a mens league hockey game last night so that is about all the typing I can handle right now. Which reminds me did you know JMU now has a hockey team and they are actually pretty good….Times they are a changing.
