Vad Lee Wins the Dudley Award for the Second Year in a Row
Last night, Vad Lee was chosen as the Dudley Award winner for 2015. The award recognizes the top Division I college football player in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Vad also won it last year and is now the only two time back-to-back winner in award history. It’s the third straight year a Duke has won, with Stephon Robertson taking home the honor two years ago. Other past winners of the award include JMU’s Rodney Landers, the Hokies’ Tyrod Taylor, and UVA’s Tiki Barber.
Lee had a monster season before going down with an injury. Despite missing 4 games, he led the CAA in total offense, throwing for 2190 yards and rushing for another 870. He also managed to rack up 8 TDs rushing and 21 passing. It was one of, if not the, most impressive college football seasons in the Commonwealth in years. It’s scary to think what his stats, and the Dukes’ season, would have looked like had he not gotten injured.
Only back to back winner in history but the 2 be two-time winner.
Crazy how good you are when you can miss a qtr of a season and still be the best. He will be hard to replace.
A very deserving award.
A very deserving award.
Vad deserves it. Gonna miss him!
Well deserved. Congrats to Vad Lee!
Congratulation to Mr. Lee. Well done, sir; thank you for representing JMU with such class, humility and dignity.
Does anyone recall what Coach Withers contract is and how long? I think it would have been nice if we had seen reports that he would get a contract extension. Back to back 9 win seasons and playoff appearances has been a great start. Would be nice to keep him here.
Good for VAD. Xerk, according to the DNR, Withers interviewed for the East Carolina job. That was in the paper this morning, and the source was Fox news .Several others interviewed also, and ECU was to make a decision by Sunday.
Report just in! JMU officials are monitoring the situation to see if they are going to have to go hire a new head football coach.
Well, that partly explains the early playoff exits.
Can we NOT find a head football coach who will STAY committed to JMU ???
OMG, I wonder if Bourne has called Mike London.
I think London already took a job at MD
So Withers doesn’t get the ECU job. That should set well with recruiting. “Yep, I’ll be your coach, don’t worry, I ‘m all about JMU” Right! Plus how excited can one get about next year if Withers is always looking over his shoulder for an opportunity? It would serve everyone if he is hired by ECU, so we can move on. His heart clearly is not purple.
The problem is Withers was probably hired with the promise that JMU was going to go FBS. It didn’t happen. So maybe best if he moves on and JMU finds somebody who just wants the culture of JMU without bigger sights. Maybe a JMU alum. Laycock has stayed at W&M so many years because it actually means something to him.
JMU had a really good coach in Rip Scherer who was always looking for bigger and better. It can’t help but effect recruiting when kids are always wondering if the coach is going to leave. Which means eventually the program ain’t going to be very good.
Well … what a fine “Kettle of Fish” … Coastal has signed on with the Sun Belt … Withers missed Vad’s Award Presentation and is in the running for a $ 1,000,000.00 increase in salary at a FBS school … and here we sit.
New JMU recruits must be re-evaluating their commitments and the JMU Nation should be beyond frustrated.
Withers needs to go whether or not he gets the ECU job. The fact that he interviewing will mess up recruiting and possibly finding a new OC and DC. He cant go to a recruits house without the recruit wondering if he’ll be there another year. Same for assistants. I can’t fault him for wanting to enhance his career. That was probably his intent to begin with.
Rumor has is that JMU released OLB Coach John Bowers and Safties coach Pete Davila
