Reader Poll: The Best QB in JMU History

[polldaddy poll=9234680]Prior to the 2015 football season kicking off, we ran a little poll to find out who you thought the best QB in the history of JMU football was. Rodney Landers won in a bit of a landslide with 51.5% of the vote. One Vad Lee finished third with a shade under 17%.

Now that the season is done, we thought we’d run the poll again to see if anything has changed. Lee had his season cut short due to an injury, but he did enough in his abbreviated season to win both CAA Offensive Player of the Year and the Dudley Award. We’re curious if that was enough to move him up in fan’s rankings. Anyway, vote in the poll and share your thoughts in the comments below.

How in the world is Jon Roddy (circa 1985) not on this list. Just kidding

I voted Rascati, because he’s the only one on the list with a ring. I think Vad is the most talented QB and if Rascati had lost to Montana I’d vote Vad, but to me, “best” includes championships.

    RASCATI WITH THE VICKNESS

I voted Rascati, but Landers is right there with him. I think if you put either of them in this current offensive system you’d see similar numbers. Both of them were hindered by CMM’s conservatism and were still able to put up solid numbers. Both of them gave me that feeling that they wouldn’t let us lose a game. Born winners.

I was really tempted to vote for Vad Lee based on his performances this year and I think I voted for Rodney Landers last time but based on who won a championship and how he led the team I voted for Riscatti as he did seem to possess the leadership skills to take the team to Chattanooga that year. But it is a good reminder of the number of good players we have had at that position.

I did vote for Vad Lee.

It was a really difficult between the 3 (Lee, Riscatti, and Landers). I could argue any one of them. What it came down to for me was with the game on the line who gave me the feeling that we could win. Rodney gave me that feeling, but not to the extent that Lee did.

I can’t argue with the Riscatti championship.

Loved watching all 3 of them.
    Go Dukes!

That is a pretty good collection of QBs there for an FCS school.

    1 – Vad Lee
    2 – Justin Rascati
    3 – Rodney Landers
    4 – Eriq Williams
    5- Mike Cawley

I think Vad was clearly the best QB ever to suit up for JMU. The next three are all pretty close (throw a blanket over them).

The list almost goes in reverse chronological order. That should tell us something.

  8. Xerk / Dec 17 2015

I agree with Zac and voted Rascatti. Vad would be next.

  9. LD / Dec 18 2015

Its Rascatti time, he got the job done in crunch time.

  10. Lee / Dec 21 2015

Mike Cawley only JMU QB to get drafted

Won playoff games and still holds the record for most passing yards in a season at JMU from 20 years ago when offenses didn’t run 70-80 plays a game.

But he also had 3 NFL players to catch those passes in receivers Jay Jones, Macey Brooks and TE Ed Perry.

Lee’s trophy case rhymes with “hero”.

    Rascati all the way…no question.
