Gameday Open Thread: JMU vs. Rhode Island

The sun is shining, the tailgate lots are filling up, and kickoff is just a few hours away. The Dukes face off against a  mighty and powerful opponent football team from Rhode Island. JMU is coming off a bye and looking to gain momentum heading into the stretch run. The Rams are hoping to shock the world and pull off the biggest upset in not only the CAA, but all of FCS this year. We’ll both be setting up shop in D-Lot, so swing by and say hello if you’re in the ‘burg. Tune in via Madizone if you can’t make it to campus. And consider this your official open thread for all pre-game, in-game, and post-game chatter.

Go Dukes!

Keep Rootin!

Good start to the day: UNH beats Stony Brook by 29. Alone in 1st.

and once again, will have to wait until tonight to watch the game as the Madizone feed is worse than watching claymation….

I love watching Abdullah bounce off people like a pinball.

Well, RI almost got a first down there… Go dukes!

I’ve watched URI play for about 14 years and somehow they’ve managed to digress from “not good” to “bad”. Do they actually recruit?

Etheridge spells Schor. Where’s Connor Mitch?

  8. 2004Duke / Oct 29 2016

    What happened to Connor Mitch?

  9. OBXDuke1983 / Oct 29 2016

They didn’t say anything on the broadcast about Connor Mitch did they?

tried to tell you all last summer that mitch was not the answer. i was soundly dismissed by a bunch on this site who were wowed that the Dukes got an an SEC transfer. Don’t want to say I told you so, but I told you so.

Mitch is where he needs to be, holding a clipboard on the sideline.

  11. 2004Duke / Oct 29 2016

Yeah but the first few games of the year it was Mithc/Schor and then Schor locked it down. I just assumed Mitch was still QB2…. and now he’s apparently not (?)

Mercy rule! Let the clock run!

I am absolutely disgusted at taking a knee with NINE MINUTES LEFT. I’m not saying to run up the score, but when you intentionally don’t score, it goes against everything competition stands for.

…not to mention you are screwing the guys who never get to play.

This game sure is NOT preparing us for the next two highly-competitive games. Scoring is not this easy … in real life.

    Go Duukkkeeeesssss!

The radio wrap up show said Mitch had a non-football related injury that happened in tge bye week. Coach did not elaborate and was not pressed for a. Clarification.

I was at today’s game and stuck around to watch the band do their after the game show. I was on the home team side and as the band was playing, numbers 37 and 26 were doing drills with a coach following them. They were trotting four steps, dropping and doi g push ups. Did it tge length of the field and back. Then they had to do it again. Both of them had unsportsmanlike/personal foul penalties.

Great day and great weekend at JMU but next week will be a different game against a good QB.

Looked for the Blog guys during tailgate time but did not see you. Thanks for all your work on the blog.

@Mike in Ohio sorry we missed you. We were set up in D Lot for most of the afternoon. Fortunately, we did get a chance to run into some other folks and really enjoyed meeting everyone who introduced themselves.

Regarding the game, URI is terrible. I can’t imagine how bad the backup QB is if they continue to play a guy completing below 40% of his passes on the season, who’s thrown 10 picks (and it could have been 14) the past 2 games. Loved the way the guys came out with something to prove after UNH though.

  17. Drake / Oct 30 2016

Schor was 21 of 22 with the 1 in completion being a drop. That’s just ridiculous.

  18. Bruce Osborne / Oct 31 2016

Thanks for the post-game observations, Mike in Ohio. I’m a big fan of Jimmy F-in Moreland (#37), and it’s nice to know the coaches turned his unsportsmanlike penalty into a teachable moment.
