Gameday Open Thread: JMU vs. UNH Part 2

Rematch. And playoff rematch to boot. JMU gets the 2016 postseason started this afternoon with a second round clash with the New Hampshire Wildcats. News broke late last night that QB Bryan Schor will be starting after missing the season finale against Elon with an officially undisclosed injury. There’s nothing much we can say guys. We’re hyped. You’re hyped. The Dukes are hyped. Let’s do this. Consider this your official open thread for all pre-game, in-game, and post-game chatter.

Go Dukes!

Beat UNH!

Keep Rootin!

    Hey
Is it possible to play two QBs and do some Wildcatting?

  2. Rob / Dec 3 2016

Wouldn’t surprise me if someone other than Schor takes a few snaps, be it in a wildcat situation or something else.

    Go Dukes!

  3. Bastein410 / Dec 3 2016

Need Schor to shake off the rust ASAP.

  4. Drake / Dec 3 2016

Holy shit. Ravanel, what a catch.

  5. 2004Duke / Dec 3 2016

    Dukes looking strong today!

  6. Rob / Dec 3 2016

And converting the special teams TO into a TD!

  7. Rob / Dec 3 2016

Did anyone else see that block on the return? Absolutely devastating.

  8. JMU2003DUKE / Dec 3 2016

Two things I heard Mason fans yelling at the JMU/GMU game last weekend:

    “You’re beneath us.”

    “Who cares about JMU?”

I wonder what those guys are doing today….

    Go Dukes!!!

  9. JMU2K1 / Dec 3 2016

    Holy Schor!

This team is just so resilient.

  10. Rob / Dec 3 2016

Schor extends plays with such composure, it’s almost unfair. It’s like a grown man playing with little kids sometime.

  11. Drake / Dec 3 2016

I feel like giggling like Ron Swanson right now. Ravanel sized that pass up like an outfielder. Gotta play a complete game because we all know what UNH did last time.

  12. Rob / Dec 3 2016

The fake FG was awesome, but then the fumble. Bummer. Another TD would have been a dagger.

  13. down south / Dec 3 2016

what do you think is being said on the sideline between quarters?

No loss of focus today boys, finish strong, take it to the house and bring on round 3.

  14. Drake / Dec 3 2016

I really loved seeing the video of Coach Houston getting the players pumped up before the game. How was the crowd today? They haven’t shown many shots of the crowd so far, except the student side.

  15. JMU2K1 / Dec 3 2016

WTF happened to this defense starting in the second half of the Richmond game? The offense is going to do their thing, especially with Schor. The defense is the real story.

  16. 2004Duke / Dec 3 2016

I can’t deal with all this excessive knee-taking.

  17. down south / Dec 3 2016

we should have been ranked higher than Jacksonville State; number 3 is going down.

  18. Cory / Dec 3 2016

Sometimes having class outweighs kicking ass

  19. M@ / Dec 3 2016

Crowd was at about 80%. They charged students to come to the game (granted it was only $5, but still). Game turned when the refs said the band couldn’t play in the 1st quarter. The crowd didn’t take that well. Loudest I’ve heard us all season.

  20. down south / Dec 3 2016

80%? really. Didn’t look like more than about 60% on ESPN shots — upper deck was nearly empty. That sucks that they charged students – tough decision, five bucks used to buy a whole case of Wiedemanns…. and get you some change back!

  21. JMU2003DUKE / Dec 3 2016

    Ha! Right on, down south!

  22. The Fly / Dec 3 2016

Watched Q4 of SHS-Chatty. I think the Bearkats are vulnerable. They’re soft on pass D, have a decent rush but will definitely allow points. We should run for 200 against them. Offensively, no doubt Jeremiah Briscoe is the real deal. They will really test our secondary. He did have an arm injury late in the game but still played, so hard to say if it will hamper him next week. Should be one of those BFS shootouts but I really like our chances, we just hammered a UNH team that was better than Chatty.

  23. JA / Dec 3 2016

60% is more accurate. Student sections were relatively packed, as well as the bottom row of the other side. My perceptions could be skewed, however, as this is the first game I have been able to attend since 2010.

That was hilarious (and absurd) when the refs called out the band. The whole stadium erupted into boos, as if to say, “don’t f– with our band!”

  24. The Fly / Dec 4 2016

Can we all agree that 53% of capacity was the most disappointing thing about this game?

  25. The Fly / Dec 4 2016

I think Jville State was seeded appropriately, based on last couple of years and what they did this season. The Penguins just had one of those games against them.

Same for Wofford, and seeing the difference between a Houston-less Citadel and a Houston-coached Madison team in this round of the playoffs made me respect the coach even more. I think we’re OK to jump on the bandwagon with him.

Finally, give some grudging respect to the Ticks. That was a clutch performance and a bit of larceny they performed in Grand Forks, especially with Lauletta hurt. That Johnson kid at QB is money in the bank for them next year, what a great second half performance by the sophomore.

  26. Gilmarc / Dec 4 2016

    Outstanding effort and great win!

  27. Snowman / Dec 4 2016

Man, what a game – firing on all cylinders, but most encouraging was a sense of calm, steadfast confidence…the guys were going about business with a ruthless, methodical approach. Had the crowd jacked the whole game.

Re: next Friday’s game, I remember back when we hosted Montana for a similarly cold game. MT knew playing in the cold and not a single skills player had sleeves. Many of our guys were sporting Under Armour like shirts and we ended with ~5 turnovers. Anyone with contact to the team may want to remind.

    Goooooo Duuuukes!

  28. Drake / Dec 4 2016

I was a bit worried about this game because of the rematch factor. For whatever reason, when teams face each other again in the playoffs, it seems the team that lost the first game, wins the 2nd. Instead, JMU rolled in all phases. Looking forward to the primetime Friday night game, which seems to always get a crowd pumped up.

  29. Devon / Dec 4 2016

After seeing the attendance yesterday, I am worried about the 7pm game on Friday night. I will be there, but may miss kickoff for this one with a two hour drive after getting off at 5 on Friday (just started job and cant leave early). Early weekday kickoff paired with 20 degree weather and students going home after finals are going to combine for a really sad showing for ESPN. JMU needs to market this game like hell in Harrisonburg and surrounding areas that can actually attend a 7pm kick.

  30. jmuparent / Dec 4 2016

On the Playoff selection show, the Sam Houston coach was complaining about their 5 seed. Can’t wait to watch our Dukes show him why we have a higher seed!

    Go DUUKKKEEEESSSSS! 🙂

  31. Cory / Dec 4 2016

Good news. JMU just announced that all students now get in free this week.

  32. John / Dec 4 2016

@Devon, students do not go home until the 15th, so no worries on students leaving to go home early we will be there this friday! roll dukes and keep rooting baby

  33. Ken / Dec 4 2016

That was a three-phase butt whooping.

Between UNH’s last TD and the XP, did anybody notice Coach McDonnell telling someone to accomplish the anatomically impossible? Oops…

Feel free to stay on my lawn all week.
