Stephon Robertson Is CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year

The CAA announced its awards for the 2010 football season today and JMU’s Stephon Robertson was selected as the Defensive Rookie of the Year. The redshirt freshman linebacker was JMU’s second leading tackler and the twelth leading tackler in the CAA. Stephon graduated from Edison High School in Alexandria and had been hyped by our good friend Million, an Edison alum, ever since he signed with the Dukes. We’re pleased to say he lived up to Million’s hype. He also was selected to the All-CAA Third Team defense.

With a defense as good as JMU’s, it’s no surprise that Robertson was not the only defender selected to one of the All-CAA teams. Senior defensive tackle Ronnell Brown was a first team selection. Four other Dukes made All-CAA on offense. RB Jamal Sullivan, OL Roane Babbington and Theo Sherman made the second team and Dae’Quan Scott got the nod as a 3rd team punt returner.

So JMU had 4 players from the offensive side of the ball make All-CAA and 2 make it on defense. The defense that was ranked 2nd in the CAA. The offense was a little further down the list. I guess it just goes to show you how impressive this defense was as a unit and is a huge credit to all of the players and coaches on that side of the ball. Congrats to Stephon and all the JMU honorees.

Supposedly Beamer recruited him too but at strong safety so he picked JMU because the women are way hotter.
