Bridgeforth Stadium Then and Now, Jumbotron Edition

Above is a picture of the JMU scoreboard that was in place last season, featuring the one and only “mini-tron”. Believe it or not, that ridiculous little video monitor was a very big deal when it was installed. The past few years it’s just looked sort of sad though. Well that was then, below is now.

I’d say that’s a bit of an upgrade, huh?

Unless I was fed wrong information, it is now the biggest screen in a strictly FCS stadium, as in the Georgia Dome for Georgia State doesn’t count.

For those that can’t appreciate how much larger it is consider this…

That the photo of the old one was taken from someone standing on the field, or at least inside the stadium…probably 20-30 yards away.

The stands you see in the foreground of the new photo are the new end-zone seats, which means the photographer was standing across the train tracks on the hill…probably 200 yards away.

I was biking through campus a few weeks ago and they were playing some animated text on the screen. It looked amazing and I was very far away (up on the road by the dining hall). It is going to look fantastic from inside the stadium.

It would look REALLY great if we saw a passing touchdown on it!

Good one hanky haha. But I don’t care what kinds touchdowns that they are, just as long as there is more than one a game and a field goal

I’m with Sean. Hanky’s comment cracked me up, but I don’t care if DJ Bryant leads the team in touchdowns as long as the Dukes win.

Given all these stadium upgrades, are there any plans to do anything with respect to the Convocation Center? It’s looking kind of tired as of January, 2010, my last look.

The administration put an item in the long range budge for Convo upgrades, but I don’t think that it was any sort of true commitment. More just a statement of intent provided they could ever get the money.

  9. Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite justification
appeared to be on the internet the easiest thing to be aware
of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while people think about worries that
they just do not know about. You managed to
hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side
effect , people could take a signal. Will probably be back to get
    more. Thanks
