When Will Moats Get Drafted? A JMUSB Contest
With 22 NFL scouts at JMU’s pro-day this year, it’s clear the NFL is starting to take notice of JMU football. Arthur Moats and Dorian Brooks opened some eyes with their performances at the combine, while Mike Caussin and Scotty McGee have had some strong workouts for a number of teams. Moats and Brooks are hoping to hear their names called at the draft, while McGee and Caussin are more likely to pursue free agent opportunities.
Moats has been getting the most buzz of any JMU player. Draft pundits have him going as early as the 3rd or 4th rounds. Just to add a little excitement to things, we’re going to have a contest to see which one of our readers can correctly predict when Moats will get drafted. The reader who comes closest to nailing it will get a spiffy new JMU Sports Blog t-shirt (yes, we have them).
Here’s how it’s going to work. Enter the contest by adding a comment to this post with the round you predict Moats will go off the board, and the team you think will draft him (ex. Round 4, NY Giants). The round is the key and the team will serve as the tie-breaker. So if multiple commenters choose the correct round, the one who guessed the team with the pick closest to the actual pick will win. If folks make the same guess, whoever makes it first gets credit. Got it? Just make the pick and trust us. This is for a t-shirt, not a million bucks. But you will have the distinction of being the only reader with a JMUSB “standard” tee from the very first run that will only be sported by our staff and a couple of special guests we’re hoping to have on the blog in the next few weeks.
We’ll report back on the draft and any free agent signings later this week. Hopefully we’ll have good news to report for all four JMU prospects.
Update: Only entries received before the draft begins will count. Thanks!
What I need is a new T-shirt…
Round 4 by Philly
I would love to see him with my NY Giants, but I’m going with Round 3, Jacksonville, Jaguars. GO JMU!
In the steal of the draft, Cleveland in the 5th.
This is wishful thinking, but Washington in Round 5.
I think the Eagles are going to take him earlier than that, so Priz may be laced up in the fresh JMUSportsblog finery.
Priz stole my pick. Since the Eagles have 4 round picks, I will go with the second of these choices. Round 4, pick 23 (121 overall) Eagles. This may be may not be above board since Priz may have intended to claim this spot. He may be very clever and chose to improve his odds by lacking specifics.
As a contingency plan, I will take Round 4, pick 16 (114 overall) Broncos
Round 4 New York Giants
Round 5 Rams, pick 132 overall.
I love that my pick is popular. Bio- I wasn’t trying to increase my chances. I was thinking the first opportunity for the Eagles to take him- they will. I think they like him.
round 5, Arizona
Round 5 – Bills (#140)
Round 5, Pittsburgh.
I’m rooting for Katie K as she’s the only one willing to move up into the 3rd round so far!
I want him to go as early as possible, but have a feeling Bobby has it nailed with Pittsburgh.
I’ll keep in line with my brother and sister-in-law but go with Giants in Round 5.
Ravens – Round 5 – Ray Ray will show him the way
What do I know – Giants in Round 5
Round 5 Broncos.
round 5 #161 Vikings
Moats will stay in purple and gold
Round 4 to the Giants
Round 4 Cincinnati
Thanks Todd!!
Nawlins in Round 4
I wear a medium…
round 5, pick 16, right behind macy brooks.
Early in the 7th round by the Skins (pick 211)
5th Round Carolina Panthers
Round 3, Indianapolis.
