JMU Is Home to Some Very Smart Party People
The folks over at Buzzfeed put together this graphic showing the intersection of a school’s academic rigor (as judged by Forbes) and party friendliness (as judged by some website that just logged me as its oldest visitor ever). Not surprisingly JMU offers the best of both worlds. I’m not sure if that’s because half the student body hits the books while the other hits the bottle, or if JMU students can just do it all. Well done regardless.

What a joke… look at UVA. I remember going to their “Midwinters” and after about a half hour of lameness, nerds, and ugly women we drove back to JMU.
I also don’t see Virginia’s Tards anywhere on either list… 🙂 HA HA HA HA
It’s a cool graphic, but I gotta question the accuracy of ‘fiesta frog blog’. How do they judge that? Who ever had more fun at UVa than at JMU? (kidding… sort of.)
The glaring error that makes me think it’s crap is calling University at Buffalo more “party friendly” than JMU, which is absurd. JMU has more parties, and they’re bigger, longer, and have women! Plus JMU’s whole weekend life is, for better or worse, built around partying – the drunk bus, the conspicuous lack of other weekend night events, everybody leaving football games at halftime so they can midgame-postgame-pregame for a night out, etc. UB is a commuter campus split into two separate halves that are miles apart, with a few active streets near one campus. But I wouldn’t be surprised if UB consumes a little more alcohol, and of course being near a larger city, there are more bars. But better parties? I don’t even think Victor E. Bull would deny that you head down to Duke Dog’s place when you want to have a good time.
Scanning the other schools there, I don’t know as much about them but I’m suspicious. But the academic rankings are legit! Go Dukes!
I think this graphic makes one thing perfectly clear: JMU Students have some work to do this fall to restore our honor. There is no excuse for the perception that we are out-partied by Villanova, Delaware and UVA. This is simply a ridiculous notion.
As an alum, I expect a swift and serious response from President Alger to combat this egregious transgression. All students NOT tailgating before football games should be put on probation. All students leaving early should be arrested. Our brand is “hot women, hoppin parties and high-paying jobs.” We must defend it.
^ I’m in favor of all of that.
