JMUSB Readers Will Buy You Tix to the CAA Tourney

154731aLast night we were messing around on Twitter, trying to figure out who will be attending JMU’s CAA Tournament opener against Towson. There was the usual back and forth between hoops fans and next thing we know, a couple of alums were offering to buy tickets for folks. The two alums in question are @richpriz and @ChristensenEconomics. And yes, they’re serious. And it’s a great idea, so Todd and I are going to do it to.

Here’s how it’s going to work. There are a total of 4 tickets up for grabs. Leave us a comment here on the blog telling us why you deserve one. And because this thing started on Twitter, we’re requiring that your response be 140 characters max. We’re holding you to that. No long winded diatribes. Just get to the point in no more than 140 characters. All comments must be entered by 8:00 EST Thursday. Tomorrow night the 4 of us will review the comments to choose winners and notify everyone via email (so use your real email when you comment please). Then we’ll either leave a ticket for you at will call or Todd and I will hand off the ticket prior to the game at a bar or restaurant TBD, whichever you prefer. Oh and if you choose the hand off option, we’ll also buy the first round of drinks (provided you’re 21 of course). We’ll get you in the arena, provided you get yourself to Baltimore.

That’s it. Pretty simple right? So let us know why you deserve a free ticket and maybe we’ll see you Saturday.

  1. Davey Chadwick / Mar 5 2014

My name is Davey Chadwick and I’m a Junior at William & Mary (JMU fan shouts, “NERD, GO AWAY!”). Hear me out. I read this JMU sports blog on a weekly basis. Why, you ask? Well, number one, my girlfriend, Kelly, is a current Junior at JMU. We have been dating for almost four years, and I have been a JMU sports fan since the moment she got in to the college.

Naturally, I am a Tribe fan first, and a JMU fan for all of their games not against W&M. I have attended several JMU sporting events throughout the last 3 years – especially football and basketball. I very likely know the current JMU football and basketball squads better than 80-90% of the entire student body in Harrisonburg (no disrespect of course, I’m just an avid fan who unhealthily follows my teams). I can tell you about Vad Lee transferring into town, the Carr Report, newly hired HC Everett Withers, Andre Nation’s academic suspension, the fact that this is Semenov’s 6th year, Matt Brady’s contract extension, and more.

So why do I want 2 tickets to this CAA tournament game?! This past week, William & Mary has off of school for “Spring” break, and almost every other school in the state does not (including JMU). So, while Kelly is still going to class at JMU for the week (and getting two entire days off for snow), I’ve been cooped up here at home with nothing much to do. But, Kelly to the rescue!

JMU’s Spring break begins Friday, and she is coming home Friday night. Being able to surprise her with two tickets to the CAA game to watch JMU take on Towson in Baltimore (and BEAT them on their own soil) would be absolutely awesome, and a great way to start her Spring break! I know I’m a Tribe fan, but hey, once you guys at JMU move up in conference for FBS football, you’ll remember your time in the CAA fondly– especially playing your friendly in-state “rivals” to the south, William & Mary. Also, why not support a CAA couple? We’re a rare breed nowadays with Virginia colleges jettisoning to “better” conferences (See: GMU and VCU).

Thanks for hearing me out and Go Dukes!

My wife and I would love to show Towson that the sixth man can turn any arena into the Convo! No finer job one can have than bleeding purple.

  3. John Rose / Mar 6 2014

Hey guys, great idea. Ok I deserve a ticket bc I was in the Richmond Col for Kent Culuko’s 3 in 94 and want to rekindle the magic 20 years later! Go Dukes!

I like the idea. I don’t like driving to Baltimore. Have fun

If they win it all will this carry over to big dance?

  8. Bhagavan / Mar 6 2014

Great idea and thanks for the offer. However, I live in the Richmond area and am choosing to boycott the tournament move to Baltimore. March Madness just ain’t going to be the same.

  9. Lively98 / Mar 6 2014

No thanks. Even for free I don’t want to go see the Dukes go one and done.

  10. JMU_Fan / Mar 6 2014

I should win the tickets because I’m rootin fer Dukes. That’s all.

  11. YoungAlumDukeeee / Mar 6 2014

I’ve watched our beloved team from our Convo, to the Richmond Coliseum and various places in between. Bring on Baltimore!
