Purple helmets and black jerseys. Really dig the new look. Let’s do this Dukes!

  2. Bhagavan / Nov 1 2014

Latney should be starting at running back.

  3. Xerk / Nov 1 2014

Is anyone actually at the game? Sounds as silent as a cemetery on Madizone.

  4. Xerk / Nov 1 2014

Nobody helping out the defense. Very lopsided time of possession and field position.

  5. 2004 Duke / Nov 1 2014

ODU is playing on ESPN tonight. Thanks, jmu administration.

  6. 2004 Duke / Nov 1 2014

Why is Taylor Reynolds even on the field? #3&28 #1stDownTribe

  7. Bhagavan / Nov 1 2014

This is the most unimaginative offensive play calling I’ve seen in a long time.

  8. Rob / Nov 1 2014

Huge break here for the Dukes. Obviously that was a pass, but they got a 15 yard penalty to boot. Capitalize now JMU!

  9. JMU2003DUKE / Nov 1 2014

FYI to anyone with FIOS in Fairfax, game is televised in standard def on some random channel… 467.

  10. Rob / Nov 1 2014

Both teams playing solid D. Lee is more talented that Cluley, so hopefully that means the JMU offense has a greater chance of waking up.

  11. Bhagavan / Nov 1 2014

Abdullah sucks. Latney was leading rusher last week and the guy is dressed out. WTF?

  12. Rob / Nov 1 2014

Announcers just said Latney is hurt. Abdullah doesn’t suck. It was a bad fumble, but he, Miller, and Latney are all capable backs. Just needs holes to run through. O-line isn’t creating many today.

Whether you’re a high school team or a college team who watch the opponent’s game films to see tendencies. How do we get two punts blocked. Unacceptable along with all of the penalties we have because we are an undisciplined team each week. Tired of hearing how culture needed to be changed. Better coaching will bring about change.

  14. Malaga Mac / Nov 1 2014

This would have been my 25th reunion weekend. Glad I wasn’t there to sit out in the slop to watch this. Just ugly.

  15. Rob / Nov 1 2014

What was that I said earlier about JMU’s offense having a greater chance of waking up than the Tribe’s because Lee is better than Cluley? Haha.

Hell of a 4th quarter by Vad Lee and the Dukes. Highly entertaining finish after some brutal football earlier in the game. Go Dukes!

Amazing looking helmets. Black jerseys are fine for a Halloween weekend, but an entire purple uniform with those helmets would be awesome. Not sure why the crowd left so soon. The endzone was empty near the end.

Our games just come across as snoozers on TV.
Too bad the crowd doesn’t stay for the 2nd half anymore.

Very happy to see the Dukes comeback for a huge win over a ranked opponent. I think E.W. is changing attitudes, and there is no way the offense under the previous regime could have scored multiple times in the fourth quarter to pull off this win. I also think the defense has to tackle better, but this team is improving each week and they are believing in themselves. Congratulations to the coaching staff and the players because their hard work is starting to pay off. Keep it up and finish out the year strong. Go Dukes!!!!

Now we ‘hit the road’ … here’s hopin’ we do not repeat last year’s melt-down.

    GO DUKES !!

I was driving back home to the Outer Banks from DC during the game and could not get the game on the radio. Heck, I drove right past William and Mary and got nothing. Glad i looked at the score before logging on here. I would have thought JMU got killed from reading the comments instead of knocking off a ranked team for a HUGE freakin’ win for the Dukes.

    Go Dukes!

I live near Williamsburg and the game was on a couple different stations. I had to run out a couple times during and after the game and was able to listen.

Based on the freshman and transfers Withers has brought in, I feel optimistic about the program even if things don’t end well this season. I wish I could say the same thing about men’s basketball.

Great win and one of the more exciting games I’ve been to in quite some time. But I have to say, as a season ticket holder for years, this was one of the worst attended games I’ve seen in a while. Yeah, it was a little cold and wet, but it was homecoming against W&M. The students didn’t bother to show up at all. The student section and end zone were damn near empty the entire game. I had a great time, too bad the students don’t care to show up at all. With that said, we have a great shot at a run to the playoffs, and I can’t wait to watch and see what happens!

  23. Andrew / Nov 1 2014

Don’t be fooled, the endzone was empty the whole game. Kind of disappointing display by the students (coming from a current one).

  24. smith / Nov 1 2014

Yes, todays game was poorly attended by JMU students (news flash, Parents/Alumni didn’t exactly cram the stadium either), having the entire endzone section since the Stadium expanded ‘dilutes’ the density of students in the main student section, making it seem like there are less students than in the past. There really aren’t that many less students coming to the games every week, they’re just more spread out than back before the stadium expanded.

With that being said, as a student who showed up early and stayed for the entire game (as every week) I thought this was one of the better games the Dukes have played this year. Did we put up 50? No. Did the Defense pitch a shutout with 5 turnovers? No. We’re we dominate in any aspect of the game? No. But the boys pulled out a gritty, gutsy win after trailing for 48 minutes.

The Nerds might not be the team they expected to be at the beginning of the season, but they’re still a top 25 team and putting a W in the standings column gives JMU a solid shot at being the 4th CAA team in the playoffs.

This is the best shot we’ve had at a playoff run in years. And EW has his team coming together and playing strong football at the right time. Prepare yourselves, Winter is coming.

Also attended the game and it was a great win and exciting to watch Lee and some of the catches by Daniel Brown were terrific. I wouldn’t harp on the crowd too much. It was pretty cold sitting in the upper deck and if I had not come all the way from Ohio I may not have attended. Our crowd has a tendency to leave early even on nice days but if the weather had been better I think people would have stuck around for this one. Next week at Stony Brook will be a test. Under Mathews next weeks game would have been an automatic loss so we will see how Withers has them prepared. I think they’ll be ready. If we can win 2 of the next 3 we may have a good chance for a playoff berth.

  26. 2004 Duke / Nov 2 2014

Turned it off at halftime b/c had to go somewhere. Shocked when I saw the final score… great job dukes!

  27. Dog / Nov 2 2014

After watching the game (being there yes, in the less than good weather), it’s amusing to see all the lame comments on one of the most exciting games.. and a win in recent years. Yes, specialty teams need help and coaching may be part of the problem. But otherwise this team is far exceeding expectations. And a special shout out for Malaga Mac-stay home.

  28. Tidewater Duke / Nov 2 2014

I started the game out in section 402 in upper deck. Very cold and windy, plus a rowdy bunch of W&M fans. Was able to secure a better ( and warmer) seat late in first quarter. Where I ended up the people were watching on TV and were more concerned about eating than watching the game. This brings me to my point. Maybe, just maybe, the fact that the game is on Madizone and is available everywhere makes it so there is no reason to be in the stadium. Just a thought. What do you all think?

  29. Decades of Dukes / Nov 2 2014

Tailgated in the rain, wind, damp and cold. Sat in the stadium from kick-off to the final play in the rain, wind, damp, cold and snow. None of it was nearly as miserable as these negative critical comments from people sitting at home, who say they are JMU fans. It was an awesome game with great fans in the stands, players who never quit, coaches with passion, players from the other team that were easy to root against, questionable calls, the fabulous MRDs and a fantastic last-minute comeback outcome. Screamed ourselves hoarse, stomped our feet in a half inch of water and thawed out on the two hour plus ride home. It was everything JMU football should be! Y’all should try it sometime!!
