Jump On the Bandwagon, Confidence is Rising
We forgot to post the chart last week, but it didn’t really matter. The big spike in fan confidence occurred after the win over William & Mary anyway. With the offense rolling and the D line pressuring the QB, JMU fans are thinking that their playoff dreams might become a reality. Fordham avoiding an upset last night helped, as would a win today over a tough Stony Brook team. Go Dukes!
I think a win today, a good showing next week against Richmond, and a big win the last week of the season will be enough to get the Dukes in. While the Dukes only moved up from 30 to 26 in the ranking, they actually made a huge jump in points in the poll. Last week when they were 30, the #29 team had 3 times the number of points.
If you look at their season as a whole, the Maryland game means nothing in their playoff chances. The loss to the (current) #7 team in the country is a “good” loss. The Delaware game hurts, but it is the only bad loss…and that was in overtime. Also, the Duke are one of a small number of FCS teams with at least 2 top 25 wins.
Having said that, a loss today and the rest doesn’t matter….
