Gameday Open Thread: JMU Dukes vs. UNC Tar Heels

Alright folks, this is it. The Dukes go on the road to face their toughest test of this season as they look to win against an FBS team for the second year in a row. The game kicks off in just about 2.5 hours from now. If you’re not fortunate enough to be down in Chapel Hill to root in person, you can tune in via ESPN3 or watch the game on Comcast Sportsnet. Consider this your official open thread for all pre-game, in-game, and post-game chatter.

Go Dukes!

Keep Rootin!

That was a very nice first drive. Now we need the defense to show up. Let’s go Dukes!

Great first drive! Only one third down conversion needed, which is good to see. Go Dukes!

Already got reprimanded for throwing streamers at Chapel Hill!

Will either team play defense today?

The MRDs sound great on tv! The JMU defense needs to force a stop!

I can’t even describe how much I hate the punt at the end of the first half.

Can’t really be mad with the first half considering the opponent, but it’s still a little frustrating that we couldn’t keep it within at least a score.

My biggest issue so far is that we are getting absolutely no pressure defensively. I understand they’re going to have better players, but playing this straight up isn’t going to work. We either need to force pressure by sending more rushers or play soft on the back end and not let their receivers get behind us. Rushing four and still getting beat over the top drives me crazy.

This still isn’t a lost cause, though. I really believe we can shock the Heels. Go Dukes!!!

Encouraged by the offense, especially the fact that Johnson and Abdullah have run so well. But kind of disappointed in the D. Obviously, it’s a tough match-up, but was hoping they could limit the big plays or at least get a stop or two.

Nice drive by the Schor and the offense. JMU now within 2 scores. If the D lets UNC march down for a TD here though, I’d personally pull Schor and the starters and keep ’em healthy for CAA play.

Apparently Withers left his defense in H’burg. The only thing that stopped unc prior to the 4th quarter was the end of the first half. How many plays of 10+ yards did they give up today? 20+?

    No sacks and no turnovers

Abdullah had a really good game. D. Taylor was the only receiver that did much.

unc plays over the edge way too much — that lack of discipline will hurt them somewhere down the road against a really good team.

dukes are not ready to compete with ndsu, ewash, ill st., and probably even montana.

overall a waste of dvr space.

deleted it after mitch missed his receiver by 10 yards on his 1st throw, so I might have missed some stuff.
