JMU Rockfish Shootout

I recently took my 3 year old son fishing for the first time down on the Shenandoah River. We caught 3 small mouth bass…and our golden retriever. What was supposed to be a pleasant family outing, ended up being a $350 trip to the vet. For a hundred bucks less than that, I could have registered for the 3rd annual JMU Rockfish Shootout, helped raise some money for the Duke Club, and spent some the day on the water catching fish. I also probably could have saved my dog a few stitches.

The JMU Rockfish Shootout will take place on December 2nd and 3rd in Virginia Beach. The tournament has raised nearly $10,000 for the Duke Club in its first 2 years. It’s a great event and we encourage all you Dukes anglers out there to register. Not only will you have a great time and possibly win some big prize money, but you’ll help raise money for JMU student athletes. Check the tournament website or the Facebook page for more info.
